|Accountable to manage the daily operations of the Health Information Management (HIM) Department with diversified duties, which requires knowledge in the technical and managerial aspects of the HIM profession. Responsible for independent thinking, the use of critical thinking and objectivity to interpret and analyze facts and circumstances to aid in making appropriate decisions. Provide senior leadership with the information, tools, and evidence-based practices to build and sustain an efficient HIM department that focuses on satisfying the needs of patients, practitioners, and all other customers.|
|Assists in managing the daily operations of the Health Information Management Department in order to provide timely, cost-effective service, and guidance to all Cone Health Medical Group (CHMG) practices, customers, and vendors. Provides senior leadership with the information, tools, and evidence-based practices to build and sustain an efficient HIM department that focuses on satisfying the needs of patients, practitioners, and all other customers. |
Successfully achieves department and system objectives, by establishing and maintaining continual productivity standards, quality, and outcome measures.
Responsible for hiring, training, and managing all aspects of human resource related duties. Develops and revises job descriptions and procedures as needed.
Assists in the development of HIM related policies, standard operating procedures, strategic planning, and maintaining organizational effectiveness.
Assists in the management of departmental expenses to meet annual budget objectives.
Assures compliance with federal and state regulations, and system policies regarding release of protected health information, HIPAA, and scanning of results documents. Reviews subpoenaed records prior to completing affidavits and releasing them to the court system. Represents designated sites of responsibility as the custodian of records for court appearances.
Serves as liaison to any HIM department service vendor and any CHMG department/practice for Health Information Management related needs. Leads and facilitates projects by collaborating with leaders and teams to promote improvement efforts regarding release of information, scanning of results documents, and quality initiative projects.
Associate's Degree in healthcare related field.
A combination of education and experience will also be considered.
Bachelor's Degree in healthcare related field.
2 years of experience in a Health Information Management Department and greater than 1 year of leadership experience in a Health Information Management Department at an acute care facility or large ambulatory practice.
2-4 years of leadership experience in a Health Information Management Department at an acute care facility or large ambulatory practice.
