Talent Pool: Allied Health
Receives written prescriptions or refills requests and verifies that information is complete and accurate. Maintains accurate patient profiles including allergies and accurate contact information. Inputs prescription information from written, verbal, faxed and electronic prescriptions and adjudicates prescription claims through third party payers. Helps maintain accurate inventory by communicating counts to the buyer. Retrieves medications using bar coding technology, count, label and prepares prescriptions for pharmacist verification. Maintains a safe and clean pharmacy by complying with procedures, rules and regulations. Maintains records by filing prescriptions. Organizes work area daily at the end of a shift. Participates in daily return to stock process of prescriptions not picked up. Assists patients in finding copayment assistance. Assists health care providers and patients by greeting them in person and or by phone; answering questions and requests; referring inquiries to the pharmacist as needed. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing department related goals. Operates POS system including sales of Rx and OTC items, and returns as needed. |
EDUCATION: |
Required High School diploma or equivalent Preferred Pharmacy technician diploma or enrolled in a pharmacy technician program |
EXPERIENCE: |
Pharmacy technician experience is preferred and retail pharmacy experience is highly preferred |
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING: |
REQUIRED: Registered with the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy within 30 days of hire PREFERRED: Pharmacy technician certification through PTCB or NHA prior to hire |
