This position involves the coordination and provision of outpatient neuropsychological evaluations of adult patients who are referred for neurocognitive assessments. Major patient populations include dementia, movement disorders, epilepsy, concussion/TBI , as well as a broad range of medical and psychiatric disorders that may affect cognitive function. A Psychometrician assists in test administration and scoring.

? Perform a full range of Neuropsychology services including neuropsychological and psychological testing and interpretation and reporting of results, within the scope of clinical privileges granted by Medical Staff services, on site. ? Maintains current knowledge on standards of practice regarding appropriate test utilization and selection of neuropsychological and psychological tests ? Completes neuropsychological reports within MTF standard timeframe. ? Provide administration and interpretation of neuropsychological, cognitive and personality tests, providing clinical consultation regarding selection of neuropsychological tests and assisting clinical departments in planning neuropsychological treatment plans and interpreting effectiveness and quality of treatment plans. ? Assess progress of patients and modify or extend treatment program accordingly. Coordinate care of patients with referring physicians. ? Work closely with PM&R Physicians, Neurologists, Neurosurgeons to develop a deep understanding of brain function and dysfunction that allows him to better understand and treat his patients? presenting problems. ? Take leadership role in neuropsychology program development ? Psychological testing on the above cases ? Completes the Therapy Process: 1. Independently interprets MD referral, charge history, and precautions for all patients. 2. Demonstrates and uses advanced clinical reasoning skills to autonomously evaluate and treat patients with routine and complex situations. Independently and accurately selects and performs age appropriate evaluation and treatment techniques for routine and complex patient situations. Accommodates to patients level of functioning. 3. Develops treatment plan that is appropriate for discharge situation, and is designed to maximize function within reasonable length of stay, considering support system and financial resources. Sets appropriate time frame and reasonable projected outcomes. 4. Autonomously modifies treatment plans in response to changes in patient status, environment, and discharge plan. 5. Independently recognizes need for and initiates discharge from psych services and independently recommends and initiates referral to additional services. Consistently makes appropriate discharge arrangements. 6. Consistently involves patient/family in all appropriate aspects of patient evaluation, treatment, and discharge planning. 7. Independently leads groups. 8. Provides effective and thorough patient/family/caregiver education throughout the patients program. 9. 90% - 100% of clinical documentation meets department/venue and QA/JCAHO/CARF/state requirements according to departmental policies and procedures. 10. Implements interventions in a manner to maintain patient dignity, privacy, and safety. 11. Demonstrates clinical proficiency in assigned area. 12. Serves as an active resource for individuals within and outside the work group and is sought out for information, training and guidance in areas cognition, behavior and/or psychology. Required: Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology or neuropsychology from an APA accredited program required Preferred: |
EXPERIENCE: |
Required: Post ?doctoral fellowship in neuropsychology or 1- 2 years of supervised neuropsychology experience required. Preferred: Experience in clinical program development Two years clinical practice in brain injury and/or stroke rehabilitation required. |
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING: |
REQUIRED BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider Current Licensure in good standing as a Psychologist in the State of North Carolina required. Must be able to obtain privileges as a member of the Moses Cone Health System Allied Health Professional Staff PREFERRED |
