Overview

 

This position involves the coordination and provision of outpatient neuropsychological evaluations of adult patients who are referred for neurocognitive assessments. This includes communication with physicians and other health care personnel to assist in providing quality patient care. This position serves the following age categories: young adult (18+), adult and geriatric. Referrals are multi-disciplinary from neurology, primary care, as well as other providers both within and outside of the Cone Health system. Major patient populations include dementia, movement disorders, epilepsy, concussion/TBI, as well as a broad range of medical and psychiatric disorders that may affect cognitive function. A full-time psychometrist assists in test administration and scoring.

Department Objectives:

?Takes leadership role in neuropsychology program development.

? Collaborates with co-workers to accomplish department/program objectives.

?Completes day to day work in a manner to support achievement of department objectives.

?Initiates and conducts marketing efforts with MDs and other referral sources.

?Completes other paperwork as required by department/venue in a timely manner.

?Reviews literature and uses current research findings to improve and promote continual development of personal and team knowledge.

?Maintains productivity at target. If productivity does not meet target, initiates and follows through on problem-solving with supervisor to increase productivity.

?Accepts responsibility for the completion of assigned tasks. Keeps appropriate persons informed if problems will prevent timely completion of tasks.

?Keeps up to date on changes on neuropsych charge coding, documentation and clinical practice and makes recommendations for program/process modifications.

?Independently interprets MD referral, charge history, and precautions for all patients.

?Demonstrates and uses advanced clinical reasoning skills to autonomously evaluate and treat patients with routine and complex situations. Independently and accurately selects and performs age appropriate evaluation and treatment techniques for routine and complex patient situations. Accommodates to patient's level of functioning.

?Consistently involves patient/family in all appropriate aspects of patient evaluation and treatment.

?Provides effective and thorough patient/family/caregiver education.

?90%-100% of clinical documentation meets department/venue and QA/JCAHO/CARF/state requirements according to departmental policies and procedures.

?Implements interventions in a manner to maintain patient dignity, privacy, and safety.

?Demonstrates clinical proficiency in assigned area.

?Serves as an active resource for individuals within and outside the work group and is sought out for information, training and guidance in areas cognition, behavior and/or psychology. This is not a single occurrence but an ongoing commitment to improving the skills of others.

Qualifications

 

EDUCATION:
REQUIRED:

Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from an APA accredited program

PREFERRED:

 

EXPERIENCE:
REQUIRED:

Post-doctoral fellowship in neurophychology or 1-2 years of supervised neuropsychology experience

PREFERRED:

Experience in clinical program development

 

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:
REQUIRED:

BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider

Current Licensure in good standing as a Psychologist in the State of North Carolina

Must be able to obtain privileges as a member of the Cone Health Allied Health Professional Staff
