Overview

 

Executive Director of Information Technology Services will manage and direct Cone Health’s information technology (IT) operations, ensuring the department provides efficient and effective
technical support service. This position is responsible for providing direction and leadership to the Technology Management, including developing, evaluating, and managing technology management, personnel and operations to contribute to the overall success of the health system. This position works with cross-functional leaders, and vendors providing leadership, knowledge, and tools for reviewing acquisitions, ongoing support processes, and improvement opportunities in the life cycle costs of medical technology. Responsible designing and recommending technology solutions that support the strategic business objectives of the organization in alignment with system-wide IT strategy and enterprise architecture.

The Director participates in creating the IT strategic plan, contributing current knowledge and the vision of technology direction in the future. Provides leadership for all information services across Cone Health. This position also oversees technology related operations, including budget and staffing, and manages relationships throughout the organization.  Talent Pool:  Corporate Services/Professional  Talent Pool:  Leadership

 

This position requires primarily onsite work. 

 

Responsibilities

 

 

1.Planning - Develops short and long-range strategies. Develops plans, priorities, action tasking, and program performance monitoring systems in collaboration with the Chief Technology Officer and/or CIO.

2. Standards & Policies - Develops departmental standards and policies. Facilitates communication among various enterprise and community groups concerning strategic business initiatives and solutions.

3. Continuous Improvement - Implements operational improvements and ensures the quality focus for all ITS areas. Coordinates the enterprise-wide program to provide needs for all IT services across the enterprise.

4. Innovation & Collaboration - Identifies, assesses and communicates emerging services and related technologies to determine application and benefits to healthcare organizations such as Cone Health. Keeps abreast of changes and developments within the IT industry, and promotes utilization and research of new methods and technologies.

5. Vendor Management - Communicates with vendors for strategic IT system projects to assure that contract compliance is maintained and partnership agreements are successful.

• Advanced understanding of network operations
• Knowledge of Epic EHR architecture and administration
• Vendor service management experience. Ability to effectively interface with users and software/equipment vendors.
• Experience with performance tuning and monitoring tools.
• General knowledge of storage and connectivity technologies, and directory services.
• Proven experience with systems planning, security principals, and general software management best practices.
• Proven ability to influence seniors and peers without direct authority; experience leading cross-functional initiatives with multiple stakeholders.
• Demonstrate knowledge of networks, servers, and other related infrastructure devices with ability to troubleshoot and triage to resolve network and server related issues.
• Identify upgrades, configurations, new technologies, and software products and services to improve organization efficiency.
• Develop, implement, and maintain Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Plan that ensures the security and integrity of Cone Health’s data, information systems, and technology.
• Maintain and oversee proper change control to firewall, security, policies and procedures with a security mindset.
• Ensure VoIP and mobile telecommunication systems are fully operational and cost effective.
• Develop or upgrade IT procedures as needed while recommending changes to improve the efficiencies to minimize manual administration and workflow bottlenecks.
• Understanding of one or more public cloud offerings (AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform) and how to solution designs that are built around these functional technologies areas: cloud compute, data storage, pub/sub, and workflow orchestration. Understanding of API solutions and toolsets.

Qualifications

 

EDUCATION:
Required: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Engineering or related field. Master’s degree preferred. 10 years of relevant experience may be substituted for a Master’s degree.

 

EXPERIENCE:
Required: At least 7 years of experience managing or directing multiple teams within a managements system’s or information technology department.
Preferred:  Healthcare experience, including Epic or other electronic medical record experience, strongly preferred.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:
REQUIRED

PREFERRED:
ITIL Certification
