Overview

 
The Capacity Manager is a registered nurse with responsibility and accountability for the management of a hospital campus capacity, patient flow and though-put operations. Specializes in improving operational processes, particularly in the areas of patient placement by working closely with clinical and operational leaders and identifying inefficiencies. Builds relationships and trust throughout all levels of the organization, including senior leaders and physician staff. Provides in-depth review / analysis of patterns and practices to identify process improvement opportunities and incorporate new strategies to systematically optimize patient flow. Communicates expectations with employees, sets direction, manages services, assists with removing barriers and works with campus Administrative Coordinator. Talent Pool: Nursing

Responsibilities

 

 
Works with Patient Placement and Administrative Coordinator (AC) on processes that effect patient throughput to minimize delays, remove barriers, and inconveniences to the patient as they transition through their hospital experience

Critically analyzes patient census, inpatient bed needs, and available resources to maintain safe patient care.

Ensure regulatory standards are met and understood by personnel, e.g. assessing patient flow issues throughout the hospital, the impact on patient safety and a plan to mitigate that impact

Analyze metrics to drive value to assure cost effective allocation of resources.

Assisting in leading daily campus bed huddles to triage and assess patient throughput, capacity changes and proactive bed planning.

Assist with campus initiatives to optimize patient throughput.

Support nursing and multidisciplinary leadership to design efficient/effective and safe systems and processes to assure smooth patient throughput.

Improve communication and collaboration across disciplines by developing working relationships

EDUCATION:
Required:

BSN

 

EXPERIENCE:
Required:

3 years of critical care experience that includes charge duties

Preferred:

Management experience

 

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:
RN licensure to practice in the state of NC

Within one year of employment have certification
