Overview

Installs, maintains and repairs equipment and equipment systems to assure efficient and safe operating conditions. Performs specific activities, as assigned, related to repairs and maintenance of multiple systems throughout the facility. Must possess a broad knowledge base related to mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems. Must have the ability to take on-call duties for the entire facility, if required.

Responsibilities


Performs equipment inspection rounds. Identifies problem areas. Takes appropriate action in repairs or appropriate steps for correction.

Demonstrates proficiency in completing corrective maintenance requests and/or floor services (zone mechanic) accurately and timely with little assistance. Provides complete and accurate documentation of work. Uses proper tools and equipment.

Demonstrates proficiency in completing preventive maintenance inspections accurately and timely with little assistance. Uses proper tools and equipment.

Demonstrates knowledge of N.F.P.A. 101, Life Safety Code and N.F.P.A. 99, Chapters 7-5 and 7-6, current Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations Environment of Care standards, Utilities and Equipment Management requirements and current National Electrical Codes.

Demonstrates knowledge of hospital and departmental emergency preparedness plans, such as water, electrical, gas or sewage system failures, internal or external disasters, fire procedures, etc.

Demonstrates proficiency in repairing moving and fixed equipment, i.e. tube system, wheelchairs, stretchers, and automatic/fixed doors.

Demonstrates safe working practices in the work place and maintains work area/tools in a clean, orderly, and functional condition.

Provides timely, legible, correct, complete documentation on time cards, work orders, PM?s, estimates, etc. Attends daily shop meetings at beginning and ending of shift and conducts meeting during the week of on-call duties, if required.

Qualifications


EDUCATION:
Required - High school graduate or equivalent

Preferred - Associates degree in one or more trades

EXPERIENCE:
Required - 5 years maintenance/construction related experience

Preferred - 5 years of hospital related maintenance experience

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:
REQUIRED

Drivers License | Valid Drivers License

PREFERRED

Preferred - sprinkler system and/or locksmith license
