This position is accountable to administer and coordinate the technical activities of Point of Care Testing throughout Cone Health System-wide for non-laboratory personnel to ensure effective technical operation of the equipment and testing systems in accordance with established practices and regulatory requirements. |
Assists in the implementation and updating of Point of Care procedures. Input on the accuracy of the Point of Care procedures as it relates to regulatory requirements and current practice. Responsible for reviewing QC, QA and Cal Ver procedures and participating in routine monthly leadership reports. -------------------------------------------------- Performance of calibration verification for Point of Care Testing according to regulatory requirements for the instrumentation. -------------------------------------------------- Performs appropriate Quality Control/ Quality Assurance for Point of Care Testing including statistics and other indicators. -------------------------------------------------- Recertification training on the iSTAT. -------------------------------------------------- Responsible for documentation and performance of routine maintenance on Point of Care instrumentation and reagents. Assists in distribution of instruments to testing areas and routine troubleshooting activities. -------------------------------------------------- Responsible for maintenance of the operator databases for Point of Care middleware. -------------------------------------------------- |
EDUCATION: |
Required: Bachelor?s in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, or chemical, physical, or biological science. Bachelor?s Degree diploma must be provided. OR Bachelor?s degree in another field with a minimum of 60 Semester Hours specifically including, 6 hours of Chemistry, 6 hours of Biology and 12 additional hours in any combination of Chemistry, Biology or Medical Laboratory Technology. Transcript with degree indicated must be provided and evaluated by laboratory leadership prior to offer. Preferred: Bachelor?s degree in medical technology or clinical laboratory science. |
EXPERIENCE: |
Two Year in a non-waived laboratory, Required Required: Must meet the qualifications to serve as a CLIA Technical Consultant. |
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING: |
REQUIRED ASCP (American Society of Clinical Pathologists) certification or equivalent certification by: NCA (National Certification Agency) AMT (American Medical Technologist) HEW (Health, Education, & Welfare) PREFERRED |
