This position is accountable for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems, fire alarm systems, paging systems, CATV systems and nurse call systems. Must possess the knowledge and technical skills needed to troubleshoot high and low voltage systems. |
Talent Pool: Facilities & Operations
Ability to test and maintain the critical functions of the nurse call systems to include the main station, headwall station, bathroom pull station, bed controls and code blue function. Also has a good working knowledge of the various low voltage systems throughout the hospital. Examples: Overhead paging system, CATV system, lab and pharmacy alarms. -------------------------------------------------- Ability to test and maintain the emergency power distribution system to include the generators, emergency switchgear, automatic transfer switches and associated transformers and panels. Also has a strong understanding of the three branches of emergency power. (Equipment/Critical/Life Safety) -------------------------------------------------- Ability to test and maintain the fire alarm system to include smoke detectors, duct detectors, pull stations, horn strobes, bells, visual indicators, smoke evacuation system and the main panel. Understands the procedure and the importance of documenting and communicating when the system has to be put into bypass mode. -------------------------------------------------- Assists Construction Management and outside contractors with utility shutdowns to include tracing out circuits in the affected areas and developing a plan to minimize the disruption to patients, visitors, and staff. -------------------------------------------------- Demonstrates safe working practices in the workplace and maintains work area/tools in a clean, orderly and functional condition. -------------------------------------------------- Installs electrical circuits for new equipment or small department upfits in accordance with the National Electrical Code NFPA 72, Life Safety Code NFPA 101, Hospital Code NFPA 99, OSHA and all state and local codes. -------------------------------------------------- Provides timely, legible, correct, and complete documentation on work orders, P.M.?s, reports and estimates. Attends daily shop meetings at the beginning and end of each shift and provides any meaningful information to the next shift and the on-call team. -------------------------------------------------- Troubleshoot, diagnose and correct electrical problems in power distribution, lighting systems, and electrical equipment -------------------------------------------------- |

High School Diploma or equivalent, Required Preferred - Associate's degree in electrical or electronics |
EXPERIENCE: |
Required - 5 years of industrial commercial electrical experience Preferred - Healthcare, hospitality, or education facilities experience |
