Overview

 
This position is responsible for performing perinatal and other diagnostic ultrasound exams while maintaining regulatory and professional ultrasound standards. This individual must exhibit strong decision-making skills and the ability to prioritize. A close working relationship with Maternal Fetal Care management, Radiology management, and medical staff is essential to maintain cost-effective and patient-focused care. This position is responsible to provide care for patients undergoing ultrasound procedures using approved workflows and procedural protocols for Maternal Fetal Care and Radiology. This individual must demonstrate a full knowledge of ultrasound equipment, structured reporting, and image management (PACS). Talent Pool; Allied Health

 

Responsibilities

 

 
Performs routine and special ultrasound examinations consistent with established protocols per MFM and Radiology. Demonstrates competency in performing and/or assisting in the following procedures: Chorionic Villi Sampling, Amniocentesis, Amnio-reduction, Fetal Doppler flow studies. Obtain and maintain additional certifications as determined by leadership (ex. CLEAR certification). Assumes responsibility for keeping informed about changes in policies and procedures. Participates in maintenance of American Institute of Ultrasound Accreditation.

Consistently completes all exams and documentation in CHL, PACS, and OB/GYN reporting system. Consistently and accurately identifies all charges associated with exams. Addresses errors and resolves issues related to the final product being sent to PACS.

Consistently demonstrates commitment to safe practices and Just Culture. Commitment to use Two for Two to accurately identify patients, follows procedures to avoid laterality errors, eliminates falls, and adheres to ALARA principles.

Required to be available to work in all clinical sites covered by department sonographers .

Qualifications

 

EDUCATION:
REQUIRED:
Associates Degree OR Bachelor?s Degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography from a school that is accredited by CAAHEP (Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs)
A combination of education and experience will be considered.
PREFERRED:

 

EXPERIENCE:
REQUIRED:
0-1 year of ultrasound clinical experience
PREFERRED:
1-2 years of MFM ultrasound clinical experience

 

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:
REQUIRED:

American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers with OB-GYN registry; must have credentials on hire date and maintain at all times.
BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider

PREFERRED:

American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers with OB-GYN and Abdomen and Fetal Echo registries
