Overview

This position acts as liaison between charging departments and Revenue Integrity to ensure accurate and compliant charges are consistently maintained. Under minimal supervision, assists with laboratory business to include Outreach customers; laboratory billing; coding; reconciling; and billing discrepancies. Acts as a liaison between outreach customers and Cone Health Department of Laboratory Services. Collaborates with the Laboratory Directors, Executive Director of Laboratory Services, and other members of the Laboratory Team.

Responsibilities


Completes laboratory billing, coding, and reconciling of billing discrepancies.

Audits laboratory coding as necessary.

Completes daily work queue billing assignments in the hospital information system.

Submits Charge Master Description requests for proper lab charging.

Completes annual review of laboratory coding and determines changes or updates that need to be made.

Escalates unusual billing issues to the responsible party and ensures a resolution.

Performs monthly billing to Outreach customers.

Develops and maintains relationships between Cone Health Laboratories and Outreach Customers and assists laboratory leadership in regulatory inspections.

Directs and brings timely and successful completion of assigned initiatives and tasks.

Actively identifies problems and opportunities for improvement, identifies appropriate solutions and involves others in the implementation
process.

Qualifications


EDUCATION:
REQUIRED:
Successful completion of a Bachelor?s Degree in Hospital Administration, Business Administration, Laboratory Science, or a related field
PREFERRED:

EXPERIENCE:
REQUIRED:
2+ years of professional experience in a hospital laboratory setting and/or healthcare setting
PREFERRED:
Experience in laboratory coding/billing

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:
REQUIRED:
PREFERRED:
Medical coding and billing certification strongly preferred
