Overview

Talent Pool:nursing
This position is accountable for directing and providing leadership to designated areas in the Heart Center and Vascular Institute. This includes clinical and operational responsibility for the Cardiac Catheterization Lab, Electrophysiology Lab, Cath Holding Room, and Peripheral Vascular Lab. This position will function as both a daily operational supervisor and clinician. This role will provide leadership in the areas of orientation, training, clinical oversight, completions of competencies, and primary oversight in the daily operation of the lab.

 

Responsibilities

 

 
Assist with the implementation and monitoring of all elements of quality performance, reviewing reports for internal committees and external compliance with regulatory agencies. Ensure that the department meet all compliance and regulatory requirements from internal and external agencies such as The Joint Commission.

Assist with the preparation of departmental budgets and annual objectives. Assist with maintaining departmental performance standards to meet the guidelines of performance objectives. Maintains daily operations with budgeted parameters, to include staffing, inventory, resource utilization, and appropriate billing.

Collaborate with other departments/leadership to deliver quality, safe, patient centered care throughout the organization. Serves as a clinical resource to others.

Manage Clinical programs in the Invasive CV Labs; ensure staff competence and quality outcomes.

Manage Daily Operations of Department: Cost, staff scheduling, workflow, patient throughput, general department oversight.

Promote ongoing communication with patients, families, physicians, and hospital staff regarding quality, satisfaction with all departmental activities.

Promotes physician-hospital relationships in order to enhance Invasive Cardiovascular Service Line operations.

Provides support to departmental and organization leadership, providing feedback and input on daily operations and staff/physician performance.

Serve as clinical and technical support to staff and physicians, providing education as needed and insuring annual competencies are met.

Qualifications

 

EDUCATION:
Required:
? High School Diploma or equivalent, Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing or Allied Health Profession, or obtain within 4 years of hire or position will be terminated.
? Graduate from one or more of the following programs required: Nursing, Radiology Technology, Respiratory Therapy, or a sanctioned Cardiovascular Technology Program (this requirement may be waived for individuals hired into and currently working in Cone Health?s Cardiac Cath Lab prior to this being a hiring requirement in 2008.If waived, must have a High School Diploma or equivalent).
? Graduate for a qualified Allied Health Degree program.
? Graduate from a qualified
accredited Health Science program.
? Current Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) if not obtain certification within 24 months of hire in the Cath lab (is required for continued employment in the Cath Lab).
? Appropriately credentialed Paramedic Program.
Preferred:
? Current Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) if not obtain certification within 24 months of hire in the Cath lab (is required for continued employment in the Cath Lab).
? Graduates from a Cardiovascular Program are required to complete RCIS certification within 3 months of employment.
? Allied Health Degree or RN, if no baccalaureate degree must obtain one within 4 years of hire or position will be terminated.
? Graduate from a qualified accredited Health Science program, if no baccalaureate degree must obtain one within 4 years of hire or position will be terminated.
? A Master?s degree or willingness to obtain a Master?s degree in a clinical field.
? American Heart Association Health Care Provider required (ACLS to be completed within 6 months of hire).

 

EXPERIENCE:
Required:
? Three years interventional cardiovascular or peripheral vascular experience and a demonstrated leadership ability.
? Must hold the following credentials: Nursing, Radiology Technology, Respiratory Therapy, and Cardiovascular Technology, RCIS credentialing, or Allied Health.
Preferred:
? Two years interventional cardiovascular or peripheral vascular experience and a demonstrated leadership ability.
? Greater than 5 years? experience in cardiac healthcare preferred.

 

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:
REQUIRED
Required:
Must hold one of the following: Graduate from one or more of the following programs required:
? Nursing, Radiology Technology, Respiratory Therapy, or a sanctioned Cardiovascular Technology Program (this requirement may be waived for individuals hired into and currently working in Cone Health?s Cardiac Cath Lab prior to this being a hiring requirement in 2008.If waived, must have a High School Diploma or equivalent).
? Credentialed as Paramedic in NC.
Preferred:
Allied Health Degree or RN.
BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider
Valid driver's license.
ACLS is required within 6 months of hire.
