LOCATION: Center for Women’s Healthcare and OB/GYN Faculty Practice EDUCATION: EXPERIENCE: This position is accountable for performing medical acts as allowed by law and regulations governing nurse midwives nurse practitioners, and physician assistants. In addition, this position provides education and preceptor support for residents and students of advance practice nursing and medicine. This position serves the following patient care categories: pregnancy, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.

Talent Pool: Advanced Practice Providers
Provides individualized, family centered care to low and high risk pregnant women and their families throughout the childbearing process within the hospital or outpatient offices. Facilitate open communication among the patient, physician, hospital/office staff and the midwife. -------------------------------------------------- Precept residents, midwifery students, NP students,medical and PA students -------------------------------------------------- Provide education for childbearing women and their significant others in order to enhance their understanding of the childbirth process and to assist them in establishing effective coping mechanisms during the stress of labor, delivery and the postpartum. -------------------------------------------------- Initiate and carry out medically acceptable emergency procedures when complications arise until the physician arrives to manage the complication. -------------------------------------------------- Provide collaborative care for patients whose medical or obstetrical status dictates direct physician involvement in the care and treatment of the patient but whose overall status is acceptable for midwifery management. -------------------------------------------------- Maintains current and develops future theoretical and technical competencies regarding OB/GYN, primary care, emergency medicine, family planning. -------------------------------------------------- Provide interconceptional and gynecological services to women who request preventative health care. -------------------------------------------------- |

Required: Graduation from an approved Nurse Midwifery program Preferred: Master degree |

REQUIRED BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider ACLS | Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Must maintain valid NC RN and Nurse Midwife license PREFERRED |
