Overview

 

The Director IT Project Management Office (PMO) will lead the development and implementation of the Information Technology Project Management Office. The Director is accountable for the systems, structures and processes that ensure effective strategic alignment of projects, prioritization, value management, and benefit realization. This position will drive project standardization to introduce and ensure standard work in managing projects across the enterprise. The Director will have an enterprise focus that requires direct access to and interaction with the Cone Health executive team and ITS Steering Committee in order to manage organizational change, promote transparency and encourage enterprise collaboration and innovation.

The Director IT PMO is responsible for the overall leadership and effective performance of the Project Management Office with accountability to deliver consistent, high-quality projects, programs and manage the IT portfolio. This position will direct and oversee the IT Program Management Office, Lean Management and ITSM functions to ensure IT programs and projects meet organization goals and requirements. Leads and directs project management staff and works with other department leaders to define and develop projects and programs.

 

This is a hybrid role requiring regular, weekly onsite work.

Responsibilities

 

 
Manages the IT Governance structure which reviews, approves and prioritizes requests for organizational projects. Works collaboratively with senior leaders and ITS Steering Committee to ensure project portfolio is aligned with IT strategy and enables Cone Health?s ability to fulfill its purpose, intent and business priorities.
Develops and drives best practices for project management tools/technology, methods and training that will improve project efficiency and outcomes. Advises project managers and their teams on the best use of project management disciplines and approaches and acts as the point of contact for program / project management questions. Serves as an internal consultant and mentor to share best practices and help educate project management professionals throughout the organization.
Manages Cone Health?s IT project portfolio and Prepare dashboards, project status, and presentations for the CIO, IT Steering commitee and organizational leadership. Ensures resources are allocated to assigned programs and projects. Works with project leaders to track and report project status and ROI.
Facilitates the cross-functional IT steering committee to maximize business value through strategic technology investment. Accountable for IT strategic sourcing, including vendor, contract management, communications and IT budgets.
Applies risk management assessment in project planning / ongoing execution and resolves issues and conflicts associated with management of multiple complex high-priority projects.
Partners with leadership and other key stakeholders to identify opportunities to leverage learning from completed projects to elevate performance and efficiency across the enterprise. Builds trust and strategic partnerships with business unit contacts, vendors, project teams and leadership to facilitate two-way communication.
Establishes professional standards for business process and project management - using industry innovations, best practices, standards, methodologies, and key performance metrics to drive continuous improvement. Recruits, coaches and retains employees while encouraging personal and professional growth. Creates an inspired culture to engage employees.
Accountable for Lean Management System and ITSM implementation in ITS. Interfaces with Enterprise Architecture (ART) on the Leads the identification and implementation of project management processes, methods, tools, guidelines and standards in order to establish a stable framework that supports IT and stakeholders to improve the probability of successful project delivery.

Qualifications

 

EDUCATION:
Required: Bachelor's Degree
Preferred: Master's Degree

 

EXPERIENCE:

Required:
10 years of direct work in a Project Management Office (PMO) or EPMO with program and portfolio management experience
10 years of experience working collaboratively with senior executives including CIO, CFO, CEO and EVPs
Public speaking
Change management

Heathcare experience preferred.

 

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:
Required: PMP
Preferred: CSM, PFMP, PGMP Certified
