Overview

 

The Medical Director - Rural Health North Region will provide leadership, direction and planning for health service delivery within their geographic region with a focus on innovation and continuity of care that is specific to a rural community. They will support the North & East Regional CMO with duties related to the facility-based medical staff, as well as providing input and guidance on a wide range of clinical and operational activities for the facility/region. Specific additional focus areas will include patient experience, provider engagement, quality, safety, and compliance/regulatory issues as is relevant to the rural environment.

Responsibilities

 

 
Aligns the Medical Staff and clinical areas of the Northern Region with Cone Health's strategic priorities: patient value, people, culture, access, and growth with a rural perspective. Works collaboratively with others, to include service line leaders, department chiefs, operational leaders, and other Medical Directors.
Analyzes data to determine the necessary provider representation for region and utilizes this data to further goal success for the region and the enterprise.
Has good understanding of change management and good communication skills with intention around building community both within the organization/region and with rural community stakeholders.
Responsible for participation and support of Governance. Encourages new ideas focused on rural health and recruits others for support and involvement.
Continuously strives for innovation that is patient centered and high quality/low cost.
Participates in quality, safety and regulatory projects as needed and maintains a good understanding of process improvement and project management.
Encourages and develops lines of communication with providers within the Region to promote provider engagement and supports the organizations strategic priorities and goals.
Understands Medical Staff governance functions under the Bylaws and participates in Peer Review, Credentialling, and other related meetings as needed.

Qualifications

 

EDUCATION:
REQUIRED:
MD or DO degree (or equivalent)
Board certified in areas of specialty
PREFERRED:
Graduate of Physician Leadership Academy (Cone Health) or equivalent

 

EXPERIENCE:
REQUIRED:
5 years or more of clinical experience

 

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:
REQUIRED:
MD/DO
Licensed physician in good standing with no professional conduct issues.
