Overview

Emergency Management Coordinator (EMC) oversees and coordinates system-wide emergency management efforts for an assigned area of responsibility (i.e. Plans, Training, Logistics, and/or Special Projects). Assists Director Emergency Management and facility staff with coordination, planning, trainings, and process improvements related to emergency management to comply with federal, state, local and Joint Commission (JC) regulations. Supports day-to-day operational needs of Emergency Management office to include inventory reports, training schedules, monthly stakeholder meetings (internal and external), and exercises across the enterprise. Assists with specific needs identified by Hospital leadership and/or Emergency Management leaders. Collaborates with internal staff, local emergency response teams, government agencies, and community organizations to ensure that emergency plans are in place and that all necessary resources are available to respond to emergencies while supporting Cone Health.

Responsibilities


Operations and Coordination
- Coordinates, organizes, and plans support for campus / division / and assigned areas of responsibilities as applicable.
- Revises plans accordingly to meet needs of organization and team.
- Conducts consistent employee rounding sessions to discuss any current departmental opportunities or successes.
- Assists with all facets of system disaster / emergency management plans.

Logistics
- Supports oversight of Emergency Management equipment and inventory system.
- Ensures equipment is continually ready for deployment.
- Ensures all regular preventive maintenance and repairs are performed.

Regulatory Compliance and Planning
- Supports all JC guidelines for Environment of Care Emergency preparedness standards.
- Provides coordination to ensure that all departments are provided information on JC Emergency Preparedness Environment Care standards and monitor compliance to these standards.
- Assists team with monitoring and compliance with all other regulatory agencies to assure compliance with emergency management/preparedness standards.
- With guidance from Director Emergency Management, ensures that any revision, rewrite and/or update of Emergency Operations Plan (EOP), Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP), Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP), Incident Action Plans (IAP?s), Cone Health Emergency Management Standard Operating Guidelines/Procedures and future documents and plans are in compliance with NIMS, ICS, EMAP and other best practices.

Training and Exercise
- Supports planning and execution of a minimum of two Hospital-wide/System-wide Emergency Preparedness functional or full-scale exercise per campus, per year.
- Actively participates in all additional facility and system-wide exercises conducted.

System Representation / Engagement
- Participates on assigned internal and external task forces, committees, and agencies regarding emergency preparedness including those at the hospital, local, regional, and state levels.
- Ensures representation of Emergency Management on assigned facility committees and sub-committees as they relate to Emergency Management or related projects. Participate in all system-wide Emergency Management committee meetings and any assigned facility specific Emergency Management Committee or EOC committee meetings.

Professional Development
- Investigates, researches, and makes recommendations regarding best practices with respect to emergency preparedness.
- Attends seminars, benchmarks with other institutions to identify system and operational problems, and proposes solutions.
- Participates in local and regional health care improvement initiatives.
- Continuously seeks learning and educational opportunities for personal and professional development in the areas of Emergency Management.

Qualifications


EDUCATION:
Bachelors, Required
Masters, Preferred

EXPERIENCE:
Required:
Minimum 3 years in emergency services, emergency management or healthcare related field
Preferred:
5+ years? experience in emergency services or emergency management
3+ years? hospital emergency preparedness experience

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:
Required:
ICS 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, 800 & applicable Incident Command Certificates
HSEEP within 1 year of employment
Valid Drivers License
BLS (CPR) | AHA Health Care Provide or American Red Cross
Preferred:
Associate Emergency Management (AEM) or Certified Emergency Manager (CEM)
NC Associate or Executive Level Emergency Manager
Certified Healthcare Emergency Professional
Certified Business Continuity Professional
Project Manager Professional Certification
