Overview

This position is accountable to supervise the activities of employees in order to produce timely, quality lab results to assist physicians in diagnosis and treatment of our patients. Also, this position serves as a resource for clinical staff members in all areas inside and outside of the department. This position is accountable for overseeing department staffing plans and schedules, assignments, timekeeping and conducting performance appraisals. Includes counseling/coaching employees while providing quality care for patients, including neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults and geriatrics.

Responsibilities


Provides leadership for the department in meeting organizational goals and objectives, assists Phlebotomy Services Regional Manager or Director with the daily activities of department employees to ensure timely, accurate reporting of laboratory procedures to include:
? Ensures Staffing and Scheduling Improvements and
Requirements
? Assists Coordinators with Shift Coverage
? Performs Annual Competency and Staff Appraisals
? Employee Counseling/Corrective Action
? Ensure Staff Completion of Yearly Requirements (TB, Flu, Fit
Testing)
? Attends leadership meetings when appropriate.
? Collaborates, supports and inspires other leaders in phlebotomy
departments at other facilities

Assists in implementing performance improvement activities. Operationalizes the QA/QC program for department. Facilitates staff QA/QC education and participation.
? Monthly QA ? Monitoring and Remediation

? Oversees Accreditation Standards
? Researches and provides follow up regarding departmental
incidents and Safety Zone Portals.
? Skills Fair Coordination
? Student Training Facilitation

? Demonstrating resolution in service recovery
? Monitoring PG Patient Satisfaction for all sites
Patient Satisfaction Improvement planning and execution

? Building and preserving collaborative relationships and team
building activities.
? Departmental Rounding (Rounding with Department Leaders
from all departments ? as needed/quarterly)

Organizational/Community Events

Qualifications


EDUCATION:
Required - High School diploma or equivalent.
Preferred - Bachelor's degree

EXPERIENCE:
Required - If high school graduate, must have 5 years of leadership or high performing experience in a high complexity laboratory
If Bachelor's degree, must have minimum of 2 years clinical experience in a high complexity laboratory.
Preferred - Supervisory experience

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:
REQUIRED
BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider
Current Phlebotomy licensure from one of the following approved agencies: ASCP (American Society for Clinical Pathology) or ASPT (American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians) or NHA (National Healthcareer Association)
OR
Medical Technologist from ASCP (American Society for Clinical Pathology) or NHA (National Healthcareer Association)
