The Registered Dental Hygienist, working under close supervision, will collaborate with the Dentist(s) to meet the oral health needs of the patients. The Registered Dental Hygienist is a grant-funded position and will work at the Guilford Adult Health Dental Access Program that provides dental care to those who are uninsured. This role with also assist in reviewing the patient's health history, providing oral cancer screenings, and providing other exams to help establish the patient's oral health condition. |
Talent Pool: Allied Health
Assists in establishing the patient's oral health condition by reviewing the patient's health history, providing oral cancer screening, conducting head and neck inspections, taking x-rays, and other procedures in compliance with the Dental Practice Act. Documents the patient's oral health evaluation and the extent of prophylaxis and dental charting in the patient record in order to provide the dentist with information for a more complete diagnosis and subsequent treatment, if needed. Educates patients on proper oral hygiene strategies like brushing, flossing, and nutritional counseling. Practices universal precautions and other sterilization and infection control procedures for equipment in order to meet safety standards. Supports with reviewing patient medical and dental records (as required by the North Carolina Medical/Dental Examiner?s Office) to ensure that documentation is complete, services are appropriate, and notation is accurate. Performs other duties as reasonably required or assigned. |
