Overview

The Radiologic Technologist performs medical exams using X-rays or other diagnostic imaging examinations on patients to create images of specific parts of the body. The images are then interpreted by a doctor for diagnosis and monitoring of disease. Working under direct supervision, this position prepares patients for the exams, moves patients to the correct position, operates the equipment, and uses their knowledge and skill to minimize the radiation dose to the patient.

Responsibilities


Follows instructions from physicians regarding which area of the patient?s body needs imaging.
Talks the patient through the procedure and answer questions to lower their anxiety and increase their understanding of the procedure.
Positions the patient correctly and adjusts the imaging equipment to the specified position to create quality images of specific parts of the body.
Prevents unnecessary radiation exposure both to themselves and to the patient.
Follows correct techniques and procedures such as patient shielding to ensure adherence to ensure accurate and reliable diagnostic imaging services.
Completes required documentation for each procedure to ensure proper patient records and facilitate seamless communication among healthcare providers.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications


EDUCATION:
Required: High School Diploma or equivalent; Graduate of a Radiology, Imaging or related educational program

EXPERIENCE:

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:
Required: ARRT (R) | Radiologic Technologist - DxBLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare
