Overview

The Patient Advocate helps coordinate care across the spectrum of health services including high quality physical health (both acute and chronic), behavioral health care, as well as social services, housing, educational systems, and employment opportunities in order to improve the patient's wellness. This role also helps provide patients with an explanation of benefits and assists patients with gaining coverage if they are uninsured. The schedule for this role is 10AM-10PM/11AM-11PM 3 days a week.Talent Pool - Administrative & Clerical |

Responsibilities
|
- Helps educate patients and other members of the healthcare team regarding healthcare benefits, insurance, and managed care issues.
- Refers to the appropriate level of care based upon medical necessity and information obtained from screening.
- Assists in assessing patients based upon their risk factors to identify whether the person is emergent, urgent, or routine in order to refer them to the appropriate internal/external providers.
- Assists patients with completing their initial intake paperwork ensuring that all consents and release of information (ROI) are updated.
- Helps provide coordination of care with insurance companies by obtaining prior approval/authorization and ensuring adequate documentation is recorded for prior approvals.
- Helps uninsured patients navigate the healthcare system and increase their knowledge and utilization of mobile technologies.
- Performs other duties as reasonably required or assigned.

Qualifications
EDUCATION: |
Required: Bachelor's Degree |
EXPERIENCE: |
Required: 2 years or more of medical office experience |
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING: |
Required: Certified Medical Assistant |
