The Surgical Technologist assists Registered Nurses (RN) with patient care in the Operating Room by verifying health data and observing the patient. Working under close supervision, this role supports the surgical process by performing basic scrub duties and set-up for uncomplicated procedures so that operations run smoothly and that the patient receives the best care. |
Assists in ensuring that sterile equipment is not brought in contact with unsterile items or surfaces so that asepsis is maintained.
Watches and takes notes on patient health changes in order to adapt the care plan as necessary.
Supports completing table set-ups for procedures to provide a sterile and prepared environment for surgery.
Gathers supplies and checks equipment to ensure that the necessary materials are prepared for surgery.
Assists in verifying health status data for patients with the circulating nurse in order to keep a detailed record of a patient's condition.
Performs other duties as assigned.
