Overview

The Pharmacy Coordinator oversees clinical, operational, and regulatory processes to provide pharmaceutical care for an individual clinical pharmacy. This role holds the license for the clinical pharmacy. This role manages pharmacists that provide patient care that optimizes medication therapy and promotes health, wellness, and disease prevention. The Pharmacy Coordinator also evaluates the pharmacy processes in place and is responsible for optimizing them to improve the quality and efficiency of patient care.

Responsibilities


Supervises the work of subordinate professional and technical pharmacy staff; scheduling, assigning, directing, and monitoring the quality and quantity of work performed.
Performs quality control checks to ensure that the work of subordinates is both accurate and appropriate and that staff are fully competent to perform their duties.
Monitors the use and administration of patients' drug regimens and the appropriateness of serum drug levels.
Verifies dose appropriateness based on clinical goals and expectations. Monitors and evaluates adverse drug reactions and pharmacist interventions.
Coordinates clinical pharmacy activities with physician, nursing, laboratory, and other personnel, developing and assisting in the implementation of clinical pathways and therapeutic guidelines.
Teaches and instructs pharmacists, nurses, physicians, and others regarding the technical skills used in monitoring drug therapy.
Coordinates pharmacy record keeping, auditing, and other drug control policies, procedures and activities as required by County, State, and Federal law.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications


EDUCATION:
Required: PharmD or clinical postgraduate degree in Pharmacy (M.S.); Completion of a PGY2 residency or equivalent experience

EXPERIENCE:
Required: 3 years of advanced pharmacotherapy specialist practice in a critical care clinical pharmacy setting

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:
Required: Active license to practice pharmacy in North Carolina or eligible to obtain pharmacy license within two (2) months of hire; BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
