The Clinical Pharmacist II Acute Care routinely performs clinical support in addition to preparing and dispensing prescribed medications to patients in the acute care setting. This role is accountable for the maintenance of all aspects of medication administration including efficiency and effectiveness of medication therapeutics and dispensing, evaluation of appropriateness of drug utilization, nursing support for patient and staff education, and supervision of pharmacy technicians.
Interprets and follows physician instructions to deliver the correct care to the correct patient.
Oversees and verifies prescription order entry, packaging and dispensing.
Provides and monitors pharmacy driven protocols, drug utilization and medication-related information to healthcare professionals, patients and the public.
Supervises pharmacy technicians.
Precepts students.
Collaborates with healthcare professionals, including physicians and nurses, to optimize medication therapy and ensure patient safety
Performs other duties as required or assigned.
EDUCATION:
Required: Doctor of Pharmacy or BSPharm
EXPERIENCE:
Required: 3 years
