The Medical Laboratory Scientist is responsible for performing, analyzing, and releasing laboratory tests on specimens to ensure accurate and reliable results by adhering to established policies and procedures. Working under direct supervision, this role is responsible for troubleshooting and maintaining complex instrumentation, prioritizing workload to meet turnaround times, and staying updated on competencies and regulatory standards. The Medical Laboratory Scientist plays a crucial role in delivering accurate and timely diagnostic information that supports patient care and treatment decisions.

- Performs all processes associated with testing of laboratory specimens, ensuring adherence to established policies and procedures to ensure accurate and reliable test results. - Conducts quality control and assurance activities to maintain accuracy in specimen testing and reporting for effective diagnosis and treatment. - Maintains and troubleshoots complex instrumentation and test systems, documenting corrective actions prior to releasing testing results to contribute to reliable test outcomes. - Prioritizes duties and manages workload to meet established laboratory turnaround times for efficient patient care and treatment decisions. - Stays updated on annual competencies, continuing education assignments, and regulatory standards, ensuring compliance with safety and compliance policies and procedures. - Practices efficient use of supplies and actively participate in inventory control to maintain a cost-effective and well-equipped laboratory. - Performs other duties as assigned. |
EDUCATION: |
Required: Bachelor's Degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, or chemical, physical, or biological science. |
EXPERIENCE: |
Preferred: Six months experience as a technical generalist |
