Overview

The Exercise Physiologist II works as part of an integrated clinical team and is accountable to design an exercise prescription based on each Rehab participant?s clinical status and/or exercise testing results. The Exercise Physiologist II will monitor physiological data and make appropriate adjustments for the safety and therapeutic benefit of the patient/participant. They will also assist in the education of participants and interact and communicate effectively with other disciplines involved in care of adult and geriatric Rehab participants.

Responsibilities


Performs functional capacity tests, balance and musculo-skeletal evaluations with attention to accuracy and safety. Uses test results to create customized exercise prescription and results report.
Implements Inpatient services and evaluates for Outpatient services. Performs patient ambulation documenting response to activity in medical record.
Documents necessary information in patient's medical record in an accurate and timely manner.
Assists with data management and quality indicators for the Rehab program as appropriate with attention to detail and timeliness.
Provides individual and group education sessions for patients/participants.
Counsels patient/participant on exercise, risk factors and other applicable teachings on health and medical conditions. Refer to appropriate providers as necessary.
Develops an individualized exercise plan/program for the patient/participant for home and discharge.
Facilitates the preventive maintenance of equipment. Takes the initiative to promote safety and program flow by maintaining a written and documented preventative maintenance program.
Takes leadership role in ensuring all equipment is calibrated and maintained in safe and proper working order in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations. Coordinates with Bio-Med and/or facilities service personnel for proper maintenance follow up.
Collaborates with Leadership regarding program exercise equipment needs/repairs.
Generates referrals, memberships and new patient/participant enrollments which includes telephone calls or communicating with providers regarding program participation.
Supervises student interns ensuring adherence to policies, procedures, and techniques, answering questions, conducting orientation, explaining correct procedures, demonstrating techniques, and intervening where warranted to correct deficiencies. Includes providing informal and formal feedback in a constructive, thorough, and timely manner. Helps coordinate daily tasks and schedule to assist the intern in meeting his/her goals.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications


EDUCATION:
Required: Bachelor's degree in exercise science, exercise physiology, kinesiology, or physical education

EXPERIENCE:
Required: 3 years in a clinical setting or related field

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:
Required: ACSM Clinical Exercise Physiologist or ACSM Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist within one year of hire; BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider
