Our Kidney Dialysis Unit (KDU), located at Alamance Regional Medical Center, is a 6-bay suite with a primary focus on patients with End Stage Kidney Disease (ESKD) and Acute Kidney Injury (AKI). We also focus on patients who need Peritoneal Dialysis (PD).

The Registered Nurse RN Dialysis Staff position involves providing specialized nursing care to patients undergoing dialysis treatment. Operating within a dialysis unit, this role collaborates with healthcare teams to deliver comprehensive care, monitor patients during procedures, and ensure adherence to dialysis protocols for optimal patient well-being.

 

 

Responsibilities

Monitors and assesses patients' vital signs and overall condition during dialysis sessions to ensure safe and effective treatment.

Administers prescribed medications and treatments, including heparin administration and fluid management, to patients undergoing dialysis.

Operates and maintains dialysis equipment, ensuring its proper functioning and cleanliness for each session.

Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement comprehensive care plans tailored to patients' specific needs.

Educates patients and their families about the dialysis process, self-care techniques, and dietary restrictions to promote optimal outcomes and quality of life.

Performs other duties as assigned.



Qualifications

 

EDUCATION:
Required: Associate's Degree in Nursing

Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing

 

EXPERIENCE:
Required: 2 years as a Registered Nurse and 1 year in a clinical specialty as defined by ANCC or national nursing organizations

 

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:
Required:
Registered Nurse license in North Carolina or a Compact state
BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider
