The Electroencephalogram Technician II conducts medical tests that measure electrical activity of the brain and can be used to help diagnose conditions such as epilepsy, sleep disorders and brain tumors. This position performs routine and complex Electroencephalogram (EEG) tests and calibrations to meet professional standards and regulatory requirements, ensuring accurate and reliable results. Working under general supervision, this position also maintains and troubleshoots EEG equipment to ensure optimal performance. |
Performs routine and complex EEG tests, including impedance checks, photic stimulation, hyperventilation, and video monitoring, to meet professional and regulatory standards and contribute to accurate neurological assessments and diagnosis. Identifies and eliminates or reduces artifact contamination of the recording of the EEG and video. Maintains EEG equipment by conducting calibrations and troubleshooting to ensure equipment readiness and accuracy and promote the reliability and efficiency of EEG procedures. Prepares test reports and maintains test data, obtaining patient history and relevant medication information to aid in the neurologist's accurate diagnosis, treatment planning, and monitoring of patient progress. Maintains EEG supplies and a clean environment, employing infection prevention practices to ensure a safe and hygienic testing environment and promote patient safety. Explains EEG procedure and preparation to patient to enhance patient understanding and cooperation during testing and promote a positive patient experience. Performs other duties as assigned. |
EDUCATION: |
Required: Graduate from an accredited training program in Neurodiagnostics or a combination of education and experience |
