The Recreation Therapist is responsible for evaluating patients and developing and carrying out interventions designed to maximize their physical, intellectual, and social functioning. Working under close supervision, this role will also ensure that activities are individualized according to each patient?s capabilities, interests, and needs in order to best improve health outcomes. |
Performs patient evaluations and determines appropriate interventions based on the patient's assessment in order to deliver the best care. Sets goals and plans interventions in order to measurably improve patient outcomes. Carries out therapeutic interventions that are individualized for the specific patient needs and modifies the session in response to changes in patient status, environment, and discharge plan. Supports safe, appropriate, effective and efficient patient care by providing accurate, thorough, and timely documentation that consistently meets departmental requirements. Initiates patient's discharge from therapy services and recommends referrals to appropriate venues for additional therapy services, if needed. Provides effective and thorough patient, family, and caregiver education throughout the patient's therapy program to increase awareness of issues. Performs other duties as assigned. |
EDUCATION: |
Required: Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation or related field |
EXPERIENCE: |
Required: 1 year of experience |
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING: |
Required: Licensed by the state of North Carolina and certified by The National Therapeutic Recreation Certification Board and currently in good standing |
