The Endoscopy Technician Lead helps to manage the daily operations of the Endoscopy / Gastrointestinal Lab Department. Working under limited supervision, this role provides support to new Endoscopy Technicians by delegating tasks and training them on complex procedures such as the Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) and Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP). |
Manages the cleaning and maintenance of endoscopes and equipment in line with Infection Control policies to ensure that all items are sterile for use during procedures. Leads the setup of procedures and the organization of room turnover so that rooms are ready for endoscopic procedures. Recommends resources and treatment plans for patients in order to support needs and inform the nurse and physician of changes in patient condition. Assists patients with toileting, undressing, and dressing as well as transportation to and from various locations within the hospital. Supports the management of the department's operational budget to find potential cost savings while maintaining the needs of the department. Coaches and trains new Endoscopy Technicians on High Level Disinfection (HLD), Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) procedures, and Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) in order to develop skills in these complex processes. Provides support to nurses and physicians by connecting patients with monitors and collecting specimens to gather data for patient care decisions. Performs other duties as assigned. |
