The Clinic Endoscopy Registered Nurse (RN) 2 provides ongoing support to the physician through monitoring and specimen preparation during endoscopic procedures. Manages the distribution of narcotics and sedatives by maintaining accurate records and administering medication in order to ensure that patients are moderately sedated for endoscopic procedures. Collects and analyzes continuous quality improvement data in order to increase efficiency over time. Provides educational opportunities for patient families, including referrals and consults, to provide them with a care plan for the patient after the procedure. Assists the physician with patient monitoring, tissues sampling and removal of polyps, and the preparation of tissue specimens to gather patient information to draw medical conclusions. Provides intravenous fluids during endoscopic procedures in line with infection control measures to ensure patients receive fluids and medications during the procedures. Maintains a safe and clean environment by responding to and resolving safety hazards for patient wellness. Performs other duties as assigned. |
EDUCATION: |
Required: Associate's Degree Preferred: Bachelor's Degree |
EXPERIENCE: |
Required: 1 year as a Registered Nurse and 1 year in a clinical specialty as defined by ANCC or national nursing organizations |
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING: |
Required: Registered Nurse license in North Carolina or a Compact state BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider ACLS-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider |
