Overview

The Scheduler Cancer Center coordinates and schedules all medical oncology appointments for new and established patients such as, laboratory, chemotherapy/infusion, physician/Advanced Practice Provider new patient and follow up, injections, nutrition, genetics counseling, and education. Working under direct supervision, this role may also assist with the coordination of internal and external referral appointments as requested by their providers, nurses, and other patient care team member in order to provide the patient with the appropriate care they need. The schedule for this position is Monday-Friday 9:00 am-4:00 pm, 32 hours a week. |
Responsibilities

- Assists in scheduling all medical oncology appointments requested at the direction of the provider or member of the provider team while following scheduling guidelines established by the campus.
- Responds to incoming telephone calls and voicemail messages from patients related to scheduling in a timely manner to address requests, questions and concerns.
- Assists other cancer center schedulers in completing urgent scheduling needs, as well as offering assistance to other schedulers during periods of heavy workloads.
- Demonstrates courtesy, dignity, professionalism, and sincerity when communicating with patients, as well as review appointments to ensure understanding when needed.
- Answers patient questions related to scheduling and working with patients to resolve any issues, concerns, or conflicts.
- Reschedules patient appointments when required and informs physician/nurse if patient is rescheduling chemotherapy appointment.
- Schedules appointments requiring prior authorization within established guidelines to ensure authorization can be obtained before services are rendered.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
EDUCATION: |
Required: High school diploma or equivalent |
EXPERIENCE: |
Required: 6 months of appointment scheduling, medical office front desk, or patient care experience. |
