The Emergency Medical Technician Basic (EMT B) supports the Registered Nurse through observing and documenting patient conditions. Working under close supervision, this role assists with patient care as directed by the nurse. |
Assists with clinical procedures, including monitoring blood glucose, recording vital signs, obtaining EKG's, applying restraints, and attending to elimination needs to provide comfortable care for patients. Communicates with other Emergency Medical Technicians, hospital staff, and patients to deliver timely care information. Assists with patient care through monitoring and assessing symptoms and data. De-escalates high pressure or conflict scenarios in order to collaborate effectively with team members and ensure patient safety. Builds knowledge base and skills through trainings and continuing education in order to strengthen skills in providing care. Helps to maintain unit inventories of supplies and medical equipment in order to ensure a clean and safe environment in adherence to the National Patient Safety Goals. Performs other duties as assigned. |

Required:North Carolina Emergency Medical Technician certification BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider Valid Driver's License (if driving a Cone Health vehicle, must have 5 years of driving experience and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) must be approved by Risk Management) |
