Overview

The Nurse Technician Observer supports the Registered Nurse through observing and documenting patient conditions. Working under close supervision, this role assists with patient support through progressive mobility and assistance with daily tasks as needed. The primary focus of this role is in assisting to create a safe environment for patients at risk of suicide or self-harm.

Responsibilities


Supports patients with daily living tasks, including meals, personal care, and progressive mobility in order to support the recovery and plan of care.
Assesses patients' quality of life related to nutrition, hydration, and elimination in order to distribute resources and anticipate patient needs.
Admits, transfers, and discharges patients in order to move them to the appropriate locations in line with the plan of care.
Assists with patient elimination needs, including ostomy care, enemas, and condom catheters to provide comfortable care for patients.
Helps to maintain unit inventories of supplies and equipment in order to ensure a clean and safe environment in adherence to the National Patient Safety Goals.
Checks that fall risk patients have the appropriate armbands, socks, and signage to ensure physical safety.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications


EDUCATION:
Required: High School Diploma or equivalent

EXPERIENCE:
Required: 1 year of related experience

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:
Required: BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider. Certification required by State of North Carolina DHHR. Nurse Aide Certification required.
