Overview

The Electrophysiology Technician CL helps deliver direct patient care within the Electrophysiology (EP) Lab, Catheterization Lab and Catheterization Lab Holding room. This role is responsible for supporting high-quality, safe, culturally competent, and cost-effective patient care across all operational areas through comprehensive assessment, strategic planning, diligent evaluation, and timely intervention and follow-up to contribute to the overall well-being and positive outcomes of patients.

Responsibilities


Assists diagnostic, interventional, and acute procedures by maintaining strict asepsis, responding promptly in emergencies, and demonstrating effective utilization of supplies and equipment to ensure patient safety and optimal procedural outcomes.
Prepares specialty EP equipment to contribute to accurate and reliable diagnostic and interventional procedures.
Helps complete control room duties, utilizing a working knowledge of physiologic monitoring, EP-specific monitoring and mapping systems, angiographic/fluoroscopic imaging, and digital analysis to enable comprehensive monitoring and assessment of patient conditions during procedures.
Supports EP-specific support functions including digital archiving of studies and supply distribution, facilitating efficient data management and ensuring the availability of necessary resources for seamless procedural workflows.
Helps provide effective and safe care in the circulating role during elective and emergency procedures by prioritizing patient, physician, and scrub personnel needs to ensure quality outcomes and promote patient satisfaction.
Helps provide continuous care in the Catheterization Lab Holding area, cross-trains in multiple departments, and assists in invasive lab functions to support efficient departmental operations and promote seamless coordination and optimized workflow for timely and effective patient care.
Applies cultural competence and effective communication practices when collaborating with the multidisciplinary team, physicians, and families to ensure inclusive and patient-centered care and foster a supportive and respectful environment for all individuals involved in the healthcare process.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications


EDUCATION:
Required:
Graduate from one or more of the following programs required: Radiology Technology, Respiratory Therapy, Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist, Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist, sanctioned Cardiovascular Technology Program, sanctioned Paramedic program, an Allied Health Degree or relevant Life/Health Sciences Degree.
A High School diploma may be considered with a minimum of four years of full-time experience as an Electrophysiology Specialist with a current RCES or RCIS certification. Allied Health Degree or currently pursuing an Allied Health Degree or a Life/Health Sciences Degree or pursuing a relevant Life/Health Science Degree.

EXPERIENCE:

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:
Required:
Graduate from one or more of the following AS programs required: Radiology Technology, Respiratory Therapy, Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist, Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist, sanctioned Cardiovascular Technology Program, an Allied Health Degree or relevant Life/Health Sciences Degree.
OR
A High School diploma may be considered with a minimum of four years of full-time experience as an Electrophysiology Specialist with a current RCES or RCIS certification.
Current Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS or RCES). If not, must obtain certification within 24 months of hire in the EP/Cath lab (required for continued employment in the EP/Cath Lab). Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) through American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provide. Must Obtain ACLS with in 6 months of hire.
