Overview

The Audiologist II assesses and identifies patients with or at risk for hearing and auditory processing disorders to prevent disability and assist patients' optimal functioning. This position provides patient and family education as well as identifies follow-up resources and/or treatment by communicating with the referring provider and care team. This position may require mentoring/guidance in complex situations and may have difficulty with cross coverage to other settings.

Responsibilities


Evaluates and treats all diagnoses and more complex patients.
Conducts thorough evaluations of patients' physical abilities, medical history, and functional limitations to develop individualized treatment plans.
Determines the type, degree, symmetry, stability and configuration of hearing loss.
Provides diagnostic audiologic services to pediatric and adult clients, determining a plan of care to help to prevent and treat hearing and auditory processing disorders.
Uses appropriate technologies and techniques to provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment services to inpatients and outpatients suspected of, at risk for, or with known hearing handicaps.
Provides effective and thorough patient/family/caregiver education throughout the patient?s therapy program.
Collaborates with others in developing and implementing discharge plans and recommendations for continued care.
Monitors and documents patients' progress, treatment outcomes, and responses to interventions so that treatment plans can be adjusted as needed.
Collaborates on teams from different departments to ensure coordinated patient care and holistic treatment outcomes.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications


EDUCATION:
Required: Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.)

EXPERIENCE:
Required: 2 years
Preferred: 3 years in venue of care

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:
Required: Certificate of Clinical Competency in Audiology (CCC-A) by ASHA; BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider
