Overview

A Registered Nurse (RN) Lactation Consultant supports breast feeding initiatives, monitors patient progress, and adheres to evidence-based lactation practices. Working under minimal supervision, this role manages projects and processes within the lactation consulting group and provides counsel to the organization on breast feeding support.

Responsibilities


Reviews breast feeding support plans to ensure alignment with maternal and infant needs.
Prepares educational materials to enhance breast feeding outcomes.
Applies knowledge of lactation techniques to serve as a resource and support staff and families.
Seeks guidance from senior management as needed to ensure effective lactation support programs.
Manages projects within the lactation group to support overall success in breast feeding initiatives and family-centered care.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications


EDUCATION:
Required: Associate's Degree in Nursing
Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing

EXPERIENCE:
Required: 1 year of experience in breast feeding/lactation support; For NICU placement, 2 years of experience in breast feeding/lactation support with NICU or pediatric experience in a hospital setting is required

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:
Required:
Registered Nurse license in North Carolina or a Compact state
Certification by International Board of Lactation Consultation Examiners (IBLCE)
BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider
