The Chaplain Sitter provides rapid response spiritual care and comfort support- defined as easing a person's feelings of distress (financial, emotional, spiritual, or physical) to patients.
This is a relief/as needed position. The location can and will vary as this is a system-wide position which includes Moses Cone, Wesley Long, Annie Penn, and Alamance Regional Medical Center. |
Provides direct and individualized spiritual and emotional support to patients. Provides short-term comfort sitter services to patients who are without resources to fill this need. Maintains regular communication and consultation with the referring chaplain, assistant director of Spiritual Care and Counseling and, if applicable, the unit chaplain. Relays important information to the patient's nurse and provides input for the plan of care. Document all patient consultations and encounters in a timely manner. Performs other duties as assigned. |
EDUCATION: |
Required: Bachelors Degree. Successful completion of one unit (approximately 400 hours) of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) |
EXPERIENCE: |
Required: Six months of relevant experience providing emotional and spiritual support |
