Overview

The Endoscopy Technician assists the nurse with setting up equipment and supplies in procedures rooms and maintaining endoscopes and equipment per manufacturer guidelines. Working under close supervision, this role assists nurse and physician during procedures with devices needed for intervention as well as disinfects and maintains endoscopes and equipment per manufacturer guidelines.

Responsibilities


Supports the nurse and physician by setting up procedures and organizing room turnover to ensure that rooms are ready for endoscopic procedures.
Cleans and maintains equipment, including endoscopes, to communicate readiness for surgery and report malfunctioning equipment as needed.
Observes changes in patients in order to support needs and report findings to the nurse and physician.
Handles phone calls to the hospital to relay and take messages and information to the proper parties.
Assists patients with toileting, undressing and dressing as well as transportation to and from various locations within the hospital.
Collects bodily fluid specimens from patients in order to provide samples for medical study.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications


EDUCATION:
Required: High School Diploma or equivalent

EXPERIENCE:
Preferred: 1 year

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:
Required: BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider
