Cone Health Cancer Center (CHCC) is looking for a genetic counselor to join our team of four cancer genetic counselors. The cancer genetic counselor in this role will see patients at risk for hereditary cancer syndromes at the Wesley Long Cancer Center and in the monthly Asheboro satellite clinic. They will have the opportunity to participate in weekly cancer-specific multidisciplinary clinics, patient projects, training UNC-Greensboro graduate students, and meetings with other genetic specialties throughout the Cone Health system. The Genetics Counselor Certified Intermediate works within a team setting as well as autonomously to provide genetic counseling services, education and support to patients and families. This position reviews family histories and determines eligibility for genetic testing to assess patients' risk for a variety of inherited conditions and provides patients and families with support in making decisions based on genetic test results. This position also serves as a reference to staff and provides educational opportunities for the community, students and other healthcare professionals. |
Provides genetic counseling services by assessing, planning and managing medical, psychological and social problems for a variety of indications. Manages projects and works effectively, within a team or autonomously, to help identify and achieve patient and departmental metrics. Shows competency in skills and knowledge when facing novel to complex situations and remains receptive to input from others. Creates, plans and implements educational opportunities for community members and healthcare professionals. Model?s clinical expectations as a lead supervising genetic counselor. This includes helping to supervise and train GC-noncertified and GC1 teammates, genetic counseling graduate students, other professional students and interested genetic counseling applicants. Volunteers and participates within Cone Heath genetic counseling community and the larger community through professional state and national organizations. Continues to gather appropriate CEUs for certification and licensure maintenance. Performs other duties as assigned. |
