The Orthopedic Technician assists with the fabrication of splints/casting for various orthopedic injuries, and application of prefab braces for the back, upper, and lower extremities. This position also involves setup, adjustment, and education on medical equipment like crutches as well as providing application of traction devices, CPMs, and overhead frames. Working under direct supervision, this role assists the physicians with recovery and treatment for orthopedic injuries. |
Assists with applying and removing casts, splints, and other orthopedic appliances in accordance with the physician's instructions. Helps adjust pre-fab braces for the back, upper extremity, and lower extremity with education to patients and staff on wearing and fit. Adjusts and educates patient and families on proper use of crutches. Helps assist ortho/emergency physicians with reductions by stabilizing the patient while MD performs procedure and post procedure applies splint and/or sling as needed. Documents all services performed completely and accurately within the patient's medical chart. Performs other duties as assigned. |
