Overview

 

 

Cone Health is seeking a Masters in Social Work student (MSW) to serve as an intern at the Cone Health Cancer Center. Location of the main work address is Cone Health Cancer Center, 2400 W Friendly Avenue, Greensboro.

 

Start date would be August but could vary depending on the academic program's start date. The Masters in Social Work program includes classes and internship happening simultaneously.

 

Please note the schedule and # of hours each week.

 

The Intern gains experience and an overall feel for the company and the healthcare industry and medical professions by attending meetings, delivering presentations, exploring business-specific tasks, and working closely with cross-functional groups to better understand the organization. Working under close supervision, this job participates in a robust training and onboarding program followed by an ongoing speaker series, lunch-and-learns, and cohort engagement activities.

 

Responsibilities

 

 
Identifies a project to lead or participate on within the organization healthcare system to use as hands-on-experience and from which to learn.
Develops resources or service knowledge and competence in tools and processes used in a respective department.
Shadows colleagues and medical professionals from various departments in order to absorb and learn as much as possible.
Supports internal workflow within respective departments, asking clarifying questions and learning processes.
Actively participates in all elements of the internship programing, participating in hands on.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

 

EDUCATION:
Required: Must be in process of a college-level degree in a related field and a student in good standing.
Applicants must be at least the age of 16 to be employed as Cone Health High School-level interns (work-authorization required).
