Overview

The Electrophysiology Specialist III CL serves as first assistant with more autonomy in scope working with minimal supervision to deliver direct patient care within the Electrophysiology (EP) Lab, Catheterization Lab and Catheterization Lab Holding room. Responsible for mentoring/precepting team members. This role is responsible for providing high-quality, safe, culturally competent, and cost-effective patient care across all operational areas through comprehensive assessment, strategic planning, diligent evaluation, medication administration and timely intervention and follow-up to contribute to the overall well-being and positive outcomes of patients. Electrophysiology Specialist role carries out specialized nursing care within the electrophysiology lab setting. This position supports collaboration with the healthcare team to provide advanced patient care during procedures, ensuring precision and adherence to established protocols for optimal patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

Serves as a first assistant during diagnostic, interventional, and acute procedures by maintaining strict asepsis, responding promptly in emergencies, and demonstrating advanced utilization of supplies and equipment to ensure patient safety and optimal procedural outcomes.

Responsible for mentoring/precepting team members.

Oversees the operation of specialty EP equipment with expertise to contribute to accurate and reliable diagnostic and interventional procedures.

Expert in control room duties, utilizing an expert knowledge of physiologic monitoring, analyzing EP data, EP-specific monitoring and mapping systems, angiographic/fluoroscopic imaging, and digital analysis to enable comprehensive monitoring and assessment of patient conditions during procedures.

Coordinates EP-specific support functions including digital archiving of studies and supply distribution, facilitating efficient data management and ensuring the availability of necessary resources for seamless procedural workflows.

Provides effective and safe care in the circulating role during elective and emergency procedures by prioritizing patient, physician, and scrub personnel needs to ensure quality outcomes and promote patient satisfaction.

Provides support in the Catheterization Lab Holding area, cross-trains and functions in multiple departments, and assists in invasive lab functions to support efficient departmental operations and promote seamless coordination and optimized workflow for timely and effective patient care.

Applies cultural competence and effective communication practices when collaborating with the multidisciplinary team, physicians, and families to ensure inclusive and patient-centered care and foster a supportive and respectful environment for all individuals involved in the healthcare process.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION:
Required: Associates Degree in one or more of the following: Radiology Technology, Respiratory Therapy, sanctioned Cardiovascular Technology Program, an Allied Health Degree or relevant Life/Health Sciences Degree.

EXPERIENCE:
Required: 5 years of experience in Electrophysiology

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:
Required:
Current Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) through CCI Cardiovascular Credentialing International; and
Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) through American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provide; and
ACLS
