The Quality Nurse Specialist is responsible for leading and executing administrative and operational support for designated quality-related programs, related to planning, directing, and coordination of activities associated with systemic improvements, innovative design, and training at the system or program oversight level. Working under general supervision, this position assists with the development of quality educational materials, advanced data reporting associated with quality performance and improvement outcomes, and lead process improvement for quality and regulatory performance metrics. |
As the subject matter expert (SME), guide clinical quality practice and operations with applicable regulations or standards by assessing policies and evidence-based practice and conduct abstraction audits to ensure compliance; utilize education techniques from audits to enhance knowledge and understanding of standards with front-line staff; provide analysis of compliance to assist with development of sustainable action plan in partnership with stakeholders; develop process for early identification of areas that are not in compliance; communicate results to leadership as an action plan for compliance. Collaborates with stakeholders to design, plan, and implement new quality initiatives that align with the organization's quality goals and mission to improve patient outcomes of the program(s) and service line across the system. Analyzes information from disparate sources (Registry, CMS, JC, CHL, EA Dashboards, Premier, National Data). Analyzes comparative data, benchmarks, and evidence-based practices for possible adaptation into the organization. Use valid and reliable data to support opportunity recommendations and illuminate key trends for stakeholders. Provides expert analysis to synthesize regulations and interpretive guidance to articulate intent and value of quality and safety regulatory programs utilizing knowledge of regulatory standards applicable to healthcare quality setting including remaining current on changes in regulatory rules and standards affecting quality and quality reporting; evaluates resources. Create and lead educational initiatives for stakeholders for improvement based on evidence-based care and data findings. Present data using narrative and visual tools by creating graphs and charts that accurately reflect valid interpretation of quality and safety findings to depict internal metrics and benchmark comparisons; create written and verbal communication to tell the quality and safety story appropriate to the audience. Promote a quality and safety culture infrastructure by engaging with stakeholders to understand all perspectives when addressing patient quality and safety issues; model behaviors that promotes a quality and safety culture; educate staff; support adoption of high reliability of evidence-based principles; design sustainable actions to improve patient quality and safety. Support Quality Division teams with needs as Surveys, Audits, Infection Prevention, and other initiatives to drive ptient safety and quality. Performs other duties as assigned. |

Required: RN | Registered Nurse licensed in North Carolina or a Compact state. Preferred: Certification Quality or Nursing. |
