Overview

 
The Executive Director, VBC Education & Competency plays a critical role in translating Cone Health’s strategic priority of value-based care into operational excellence. This role supports the advancement of Value-Based Care (VBC) initiatives across Cone Health and its external partners. Responsibilities include promoting VBC programs and training outside Cone Health (including other RHO’s and other Health System Partners) to drive scalability and commercialization. Additionally, fostering consistent VBC knowledge and practices across departments and affiliated networks such as Triad Health Network, whilst supporting patient education through integrated materials for ambulatory and community care settings. The position also leads comprehensive onboarding, competency development and implementation for supporting value-based care initiatives, with a focus on digital tools and analytics.

 

Responsibilities

 

 
Leads comprehensive training and onboarding for 11 core roles within the Value-Based Care Institute (VBCI), beyond traditional nurse education.

Designs strategic educational frameworks aligned with VBC principles to ensure workforce readiness across diverse functions.

Drives external program growth by conducting training, mapping workflows, and promoting VBC products to external stakeholders.

Supports commercialization and scalability of VBC initiatives to position the organization as a leader in value-based healthcare.

Collaborates across the healthcare system to align departments and teams with VBC goals and ensure consistent practices.

Engages with network providers to enhance VBC integration and performance across affiliated offices.

Develops patient-centered education for ambulatory and community settings to improve engagement, outcomes, and satisfaction.

Acts as a strategic leader for value-based care education specific to internal development, external outreach, and systemwide alignment.

Promotes a culture of value-based care through leadership, education, and cross-functional collaboration.

Serves as a key influencer and advisor on VBC strategy, both internally and externally.

Qualifications

 

EDUCATION:
Required: Master’s degree in one of the following: Nursing (MSN) Healthcare Administration (MHA or MBA with healthcare focus) Education (M.Ed. in Adult Education or Instructional design)

 

EXPERIENCE:
Required: Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in population health management, care coordination, or healthcare program development within an integrated delivery system.
Preferred:
Focus on healthcare software/technology development.
