The Communication Specialist facilitates communications regarding patient transfers, referral admissions and disseminates transport requests to the transport teams as appropriate as to allow for an immediate response to the patient. In addition facilitates physician-to-physician consultation, referrals and admissions for physicians seeking services from Moses Cone Health System. The Communicator serves as a primary point of contact for Moses Cone Health System and the secondary Market for referrals. The Communications Specialist will also be responsible for data entry for each incident into the Computer Aided Dispatch System (CAD System), communicating with other departments of Moses Cone and surrounding hospitals, coordinating activities with area public safety agencies and 911 Communications Centers to assist with dispatch and transfer of patients. |

EDUCATION: |
High School Diploma or equivalent, Required Required: Medical terminology course completion or equivalent experience with medical terminology required. |
EXPERIENCE: |
1 year office support experience required, 2 years preferred Previous experience with Microsoft Windows based computer applications preferred. 2 years previous telecommunications experience preferred in a 911 Center or equivalent Public Safety Dispatch Center. |
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING: |
REQUIRED BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider PREFERRED North Carolina Medical Responder preferred. EMT or EMD certifications preferred. APCO Basic Telecommunicator certifications Preferred. Public Safety experience preferred. (Police, Fire , EMS or 911 Center) |
