A Licensed Practical Nurse performs nursing functions and duties for geriatric and rehab residents as prescribed and within the parameters of the North Carolina Nurse Practice Act and hospital standards as required by the patient?s care plan. |
Talent Pool: Nursing
Administers and monitors intravenous fluids in accordance with nursing policy and procedure, as ordered by physician. -------------------------------------------------- Completes required documentation on each patient's records, in a timely manner. -------------------------------------------------- Documents patient's response to treatments and therapy including reactions and status changes. -------------------------------------------------- Ensures that patient needs in regard to comfort, nutrition, and hygiene are met, in a timely manner. -------------------------------------------------- Keeps appropriate care providers informed of patient's condition on an on-going basis, ensuring prompt notification in the event of problems or potential problems. -------------------------------------------------- Participates in developing, evaluating, and revising the patient's plan of care and documents appropriately. -------------------------------------------------- Participates in the admission assessment, assisting the RN in identifying patient's physical and mental health needs, as appropriate for developmental age. -------------------------------------------------- Patiently and clearing explains purpose and nature of therapy, treatments, or procedures to patient prior to administration taking into account their developmental age so as to minimize anxiety and fear. -------------------------------------------------- Prepares and administers oral, intramuscular, and subcutaneous medications as ordered by physician. -------------------------------------------------- Provides patient with health care instruction and information appropriate to his/her needs as slated in the plan of care or Careway, documenting information provided and patient response. -------------------------------------------------- |
EDUCATION: |
Required: Graduate of a Licensed Practical Nursing program required. |
EXPERIENCE: |
Preferred: 1-2 years in geriatric and/or rehabilitation setting. Supervising experience and/or demonstrated competence/leadership skills. |
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING: |
REQUIRED BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider Required: Licensed as an LPN in the State of North Carolina, per State Board. PREFERRED |
