  Live, Work, Play in the Beautiful North Carolina   NORTH CAROLINA –Newborn Nursery Faculty Position. The Pediatric Teaching Program at Cone Health, a regional teaching hospital in Greensboro, NC, affiliated with the University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill, seeks an academic hospitalist/general pediatrician to join its expanding faculty of 11 physicians.   The role is that of medical director of the newborn nursery with over 6200 deliveries per year. Responsibilities include working with nursing leadership on quality and safety initiatives as well as collaborating with neonatologists and community pediatricians by leading the newborn committee. Clinical duties include being a clinician-educator to residents and students in both the newborn nursery and as attending physician leading a team of pediatric and family medicine trainees on an 18-bed pediatric ward. A typical month includes 7-9 clinical days plus at-home night call approximately 5 times a month. There are opportunities to precept residents in ambulatory clinic as well. Other responsibilities include didactic teaching, mentoring, and opportunities for quality improvement projects. There are no delivery responsibilities.   The teaching service interacts closely with pediatric Intensivists who cover a 4-bed PICU, pediatric emergency physicians, in-house neonatologists who staff a 45-bed NICU in a newly opened state-of-the-art Women’s and Children’s Hospital, pediatric subspecialists, and an ambulatory clinic that serves as the home site for the UNC Pediatric Primary Care Residency.   The ideal candidate will be BC/BE in Pediatrics or Med/Peds, have a strong interest in the newborn nursery, possesses outstanding clinical skills, teaching expertise, and ideally at least 2-3 years of post-residency clinical experience or fellowship along with demonstrated leadership skills. Applicants are eligible for a faculty appointment at the UNC School of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics at the assistant or associate professor level.   About the area. The Greensboro urban area is the 3rd largest in North Carolina with a population of 530,000 people, and a regional population of approximately 1 million. Greensboro offers excellent schools along with numerous parks, multi-cultural and sporting events, including the newly opened Tanger Center for Performing Arts, and much more. Provide telephonic chronic disease management services to a contracted community based high-risk population. Contracted population currently includes members of the following: Medicare Advantage Plans and Physician Provider Networks. The goal is to promote improved quality of life by patient centric care through education, member monitoring and self-management promotion. The RN Health Coach accurately conducts a thorough, objective, holistic, clinical, psychosocial, physical, and educational needs evaluation of the patients? current disease state. Develops and implements an individualized plan of care. Maintains current knowledge of disease processes, available resources, and treatment options appropriate to patient population. Consistently documents all activities according to policy in the electronic medical record. Continuously demonstrates a positive attitude and understanding of disease management, supports team building, and is motivated to fulfill department objectives. Maintains ongoing communication of the care plan and timeline to the member and provider. Consistently demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills. RN Health Coach will interact with the interdisciplinary team to include but not limited to: medical staff, patients, providers, families and caregivers. Assessments, health education and chronic disease management are performed by telephone at the THN Care Management office.
