  The Internal Medicine Residency Program at Moses Cone Hospital, a tertiary care, community teaching hospital that is part of Cone Health in Greensboro, N.C. seeks an academic general Internist to join as a (0.5) FTE with benefits, Faculty role. Role is that of clinician-teacher to residents and students, both inpatient and outpatient, in a general Internal Medicine program. Must be board certified in Internal Medicine with experience in teaching.  Our program is strongly affiliated with the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.   The Internal Medicine Program consists of 22 residents; 6 categorical residents per year and 4 additional preliminary interns. The program provides a community-based, comprehensive curriculum in Internal Medicine. The position also requires an academic skillset that includes curriculum development, evaluation, advising, and scholarly activity. Experience in outpatient medicine, including clinic administration is desirable, but not required. Leadership opportunities are available within the residency as well.  Interest in global health, and care of the medically underserved are desirable but not required.    Our seven core Faculty are dedicated clinician-educators who are well supported to serve as instructors and mentors to residents and interns. Clinical reasoning, evidence-based medicine, and the practical use of medical informatics are emphasized. The certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) is an expert in the management of the breast-feeding mother-baby dyad, and promotes the practice of breastfeeding as the ideal method of infant feeding. S/he is coach, consultant, teacher, and lactation expert. As a consultant, s/he works collaboratively with the staff and providers within Women?s and Infant?s services as well as the community, to develop feeding plans for a range of infants from the normal newborn to the complex neonate. S/he makes clinical assessments, and uses current lactation theories and research to develop holistic, evidence-based breastfeeding support and feeding plans that address individual feeding issues. Acts as an educator, coach, counselor, community resource provider, and patient advocate. This position serves the following patient age categories: neonates, infants, adolescents, and adults. The certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) is an expert in the management of the breast-feeding mother-baby dyad, and promotes the practice of breastfeeding as the ideal method of infant feeding. S/he is coach, consultant, teacher, and lactation expert. As a consultant, s/he works collaboratively with the staff and providers within Women?s and Infant?s services as well as the community, to develop feeding plans for a range of infants from the normal newborn to the complex neonate. S/he makes clinical assessments, and uses current lactation theories and research to develop holistic, evidence-based breastfeeding support and feeding plans that address individual feeding issues. Acts as an educator, coach, counselor, community resource provider, and patient advocate. This position serves the following patient age categories: neonates, infants, adolescents, and adults. This position is responsible for providing quality Respiratory Care for patients, including neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults and geriatrics. Employees may be required to cover shifts at any of the Cone Health acute care hospitals. Employees will have access to pharmaceuticals on all campuses. Talent Pool: Allied Health
